UV-Cured CIPP

UV Pipe Lining

Tunnel Vision: Expertise and Experience in UV-Cured CIPP

Cured-in-place pipe repair is by far the most reliable method of industrial and sewer pipe rehabilitation. As an expert UV CIPP lining company, Tunnel Vision Pipeline Services has been doing this type of service and repair work successfully for many years in some of the most challenging environments possible.

Protect your capital investments by ensuring every foot of UV CIPP lining is installed as designed and intended — with full strength, no resin washout, and no porosity.

What Are the Advantages of UV CIPP Pipe Rehabilitation?

As a leading UV CIPP company, Tunnel Vision conducts UV CIPP relining with a full quality tracker, which records the cure temperatures and internal pressures of every foot of every installed liner.

In addition:

  • Our UV CIPP pipe repair system includes a full video recording of the cure as it happens — a substantial improvement in quality assurance for high-value capital improvements.
  • Our dry-cure system involves no cure water or steam. This eliminates styrene smell, washout risk, resin slugs and disposal (or, in many cases, full release into surface waters) of hot, sytrenated cure water.
  • All resin is fully encapsulated within the liner, greatly reducing or completely eliminating risk of styrene and VOC exposure.
  • Our UV CIPP installation and repair requires relatively little equipment and energy, involves no digging, and overall has minimal impact on the environment.

About Our UV CIPP Pipe Repair Material

Tunnel Vision uses ISO 9001-certified Reline™ ALPHALINER® UV CIPP Liners in our work. This GFRP (glass-fiber reinforced plastic) material has much better mechanical characteristics and a thinner wall thickness than standard CIPP lining due to its strength (nearly 2M psi modulus of elasticity), ensuring a durable finished product that will last for its projected design life or longer.

ALPHALINER® outperforms other types of felt fiber, glass fiber mat hybrids for several reasons:

  • Even wall construction and thickness equates to uniform structural performance in the liner.
  • Consistent glass fiber placement makes installation more efficient by eliminating concerns about material overlap.
  • Constant, predictable circumferential and longitudinal stretch behavior adds efficiency to the installation process and assures a consistently strong rehabilitated pipe section.

UV Pipe Lining FAQ

Q: What is a CIPP liner?

A: A CIPP liner is a resin-saturated sleeve that is inverted or pulled into an existing pipe to fix holes, leaks and other issues.

Q: How does CIPP work?

A: CIPP, or cured-in-place pipe, replaces and repairs a compromised pipeline without the need to dig up the existing pipe. The CIPP liner is typically inserted into the existing pipe with either air or water pressure or is pulled into place. Once in place, the resin in the liner is cured with steam, hot water or UV light; it then takes the shape of the existing pipe, creating a tight-fitting, seamless layer throughout the inside of the pipe.

Q: How does UV pipe lining work?

A: With UV CIPP lining, high-intensity UV light is used to instantly cure the CIPP liner instead of using steam or hot water.

Q: What are the advantages of UV-cured CIPP?

A: Traditional methods of pipe rehabilitation do not have a QA/QC system other than a single temperature data point at the exposed end of the installed liner. There is no assurance that a full cure was completed throughout the length of the pipe, making it difficult or impossible to know if the CIPP is functioning as intended. Uncured resin could eventually wash away into the environment, taking the repair along with it and leaving behind a porous, structurally deficient liner. Ultra violet-cured CIPP from Tunnel Vision Pipeline Services overcomes this problem via an end-to-end, integrated QA/QC and has proven its value consistently for over two decades.

Glass Fiber Reinforced Liner

We use ISO 9001-certified Reline™ ALPHALINER® UV CIPP Liners in our work. This GRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic) is impregnated with glass fibers throughout, lending additional resilience while allowing it to be thinner than the typical liner. In most cases, these liners feature inner and outer foil layers that prevent the resins from seeping into the environment during and after installation.

All of this means that UV GRP material has much better mechanical characteristics and a thinner wall thickness than standard CIPP lining due to its strength (nearly 2M psi modulus of elasticity), ensuring a durable finished product that will last for its projected design life or longer. These qualities make GRP liners ideally suited for use as sanitary sewer pipe lining or storm drain lining. Our experience with GRP liner installation means we can deliver superior results when repairing these types of infrastructure.
